I know. I’m shocked I’m here too. It may not seem like it, but I’ve been gone for a hot minute, I haven’t written anything in quite a while and I feel like I’m just a few days away from spiralling out of control with sticking to a schedule and giving you guys regular posts.
So naturally, when my 10:30am class was cancelled a mere fifteen minutes before it started, while I was a mere five minutes away from the building itself, I took the opportunity to step into my nearest Gloria Jean’s, buy myself a mocha (cos the amount of coffee I’m consuming isn’t healthy for anyone so we’re trying to ween off a bit), and write up a few posts.
A few weeks ago Kate and I went and saw Captain Marvel. We were super keen for it from the get-go, however as we realised the era and decade that the film was set in, we realised that not only was the action, the clothes and the comedy going to be spot on, but so was the music.
There were so many times during the film where one of us whacked the other on the arm when a particular song began playing in the background, or when a particular fight scene was accompanied by a particularly nostalgic tune, that I knew straight away I’d be sharing my favourites with you all.
So, here are a few of my favourite songs from the Captain Marvel movie soundtrack!
- Just A Girl – No Doubt
- Whatta Man – Salt-N-Peppa
- Come As You Are – Nirvana
- Man On The Moon – R.E.M
- You Gotta Be – Des’ree
- Only Happy When It Rains – Garbage
- Please Mr Postman – The Marvelettes
There are obviously plenty more great songs that feature on the soundtrack, and a bunch more amazing songs that make up the film score. I really enjoyed the music in this film, it was very reminiscent of the Thor: Ragnarok style of music and soundtrack style.
If you haven’t already seen Captain Marvel, I’d 100% recommend you go see it. It’s a great addition to the Marvel universe, and I love the role created by Brie Larson. I always knew I was going to enjoy it, I didn’t anticipate how much I’d appreciate the comedy, and the aesthetic and obviously the music.
