Hello boys and girls, welcome to another post!

Today’s post, as you can tell by the title is a Courtesy Of, a favourite around these parts. I get family, friends, musicians and creators to share their top ten favourite songs of the moment, and we all get to discover some new music together!

Today’s delivery of music is brought to you courtesy of Christchurch-based producer, Antzz. Remember a little while back when I said New Zealand had some of the best undiscovered music in the world?

Keep that in mind.

Before we get into Antzz’s top ten songs at the moment, let’s dive into his own music, more specifically, his debut EP,  Get to You, which he released at the start of this month. Y’all know how I feel about RnB, pop-RnB and everything in between, and Antzz brings all of that and more into his own blend of synthesizers, beautifully nostalgic harmonies, smooth vocals and elite production value. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve listened to the first single, Player 1 since I first heard it. The rest of the EP is just as nostalgic and filled to the brim with beautiful lyrics that match the production perfectly.

 

You can find Antzz on Spotify HERE. Player 1 is definitely one of my favourites from the EP. I mean, once you listen to the song, I’m sure all of you who know me will know while I’m so excited about the single! If you’ve kept up with my 365//2020 playlist, you’ll most definitely find it has a spot on there…

That said, this is a courtesy of post, and just as exciting is getting into some of Antzz’s inspirations and favourite songs right now!

I was super excited when Antzz’s sent me his list, because as you’ll see soon enough, there’s so of my favourite artists on here and a bunch that I’m sure you’ll recognise from seeing them appear time and time again on the blog!

Tevin Campbell – Can We Talk: Old school R&B will always be my favourite genre. Authentic, soulful rhythm and blues. This song has those elements of R&B all through it. And not to mention Tevin Campbell’s voice…next level!

Earth, Wind and Fire – After The Love Has Gone: One of my favourite singers ever Maurice White. Does a great job and singing that smooth iconic sound that is Earth, Wind and Fire in After the Love Has Gone. Plus, there is no hiding behind production/mixing in these songs. It’s all talent and authentic music played by the best musicians ever.

Kendrick Lamar – Money Trees

Johnny Gill – My, My, My: Love the chords, beat and vocals in the song. I will almost always refer to this song I ever hit writers block. So many different and creative elements in this song whilst being so minimal.

Kirk Franklin – Love Theory: Although I don’t come from a religious background, Love Theory is no doubt a really well written piece of music. From the gospel choir to the piano progression, the groove to the synths, Love Theory just makes you wanna dance!

Maurice Moore – Little More: Great mix of old school with new school music. So undercover, but so good at the same time. Vocals are mixed in really nice and you can imagine a whole band playing the song as opposed to an over engineered sound in it. Lyrics are great and fit well with the melody.

Mac Ayres – Better: Fun upbeat song made by my favourite artist of this decade.

Mac Ayres – Summertime: So chill and relaxed. It’s so nice and isn’t over produced which seems to be prominent in every song on the radio. It also shocks me that this song is performed live. Crazy talented

Matt Corby – Miracle Love: Matt Corby, the most diverse and talented singer in the world (in my opinion of course). This song really shows how amazing his vocals are. So minimal and raw.

Allen Stone – Sunny Days: Another one of my favourite singers. This song took a different sound compared to what we’re used to hearing from Allen Stone. Has a nice beat and you can never go wrong when adding Allen Stone’s voice to anything.

Hello hello!

Today’s post is one that hasn’t been shared in a little while, which kinda makes it all the more better. Today I’ll be sharing ten songs, courtesy of the lovely dynamic duo from London that make up aboutagirl, Tom Mann and Lostboy.

Early last month aboutagirl released their third single, Deep Sea Diving, which features an absolute throwback vocalist for me, Emir Taha. If you paid attention, you may have caught it featuring in my last monthly tunes post for October, because as soon as I got sent the link, I was in love. In all honesty, if I get music sent to me, I only share it if it’s something I’m super psyched and enthusiastic about, and I don’t know what’s more enthusiastic than adding this song to most of my personal playlists and sharing it with all my friends. I also have been loving their first two singles, Forest Fire and KaMiKaZe. 

I would definitely recommend taking some time out to give Deep Sea Diving a listen. You can find it on Spotify HERE.

Hello hello hello!

It’s been a bit of a hot minute since I’ve shared a post here, but I promise, I can explain. University for some reason decided to actually test me a little, and I’ve been bombarded with assignments I didn’t even know I actually had. As well as university, I’m well into completing my 80 hours of work placement every Wednesday, which I am loving, however it does mean that the one free day of the week that I previously had is filled.

On a super excited note, I also came back from BluesFest on the 23rd of April, having spent close to a week in sunny Byron Bay, NSW for the music festival, so you can definitely expect a post about that coming soon.

However, this is a Courtesy Of post, one of my favourites to share with you all, so it’s time to introduce our guests!!

Today’s playlist is Courtesy Of Adelaide four-piece, The Empty Threats, an experimental rock band. The band released their debut EP ‘Ablutions’ back in March, and wrapped up the last of two tour dates this month!

The Empty Threats were lovely enough to send me their top ten favourite songs at the moment, as well as why they love them! So for once, you guys get a chance to hear it straight from the artist themselves!

Pond – Giant Tortoise: We love the way this song changes direction so rapidly, the hard hitting chorus and the washy verse fold together so perfectly. That chorus really gets us going.

Boogarins – Tempo: We couldn’t miss out our favorite Brazilian Psych-Rock boys. The way this song holds you right in its hand throughout the dramatic pauses and psychedelic explosions is full on, we love playing our interpretation of this song at shows on occasion.

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets – Marmalade March: This hefty Perth-based outfit is a great example of what modern Psych-Rock is. delay effects falling perfectly in place, guitar tones moulding together like they’ve been brought up in the same household, and a driving and washy drum performance to take it up a notch while
holding it all together.

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard – Hot Water: We can’t go past King Gizz, three guitars taking off in different directions paired nicely with a sit back drum beat and a consistent drone from the bass. Not to mention the flute. never forget the woodwind.

Joy Division – Atmosphere: This is one for our singer, the instruments sit exactly where they need to in this one by Joy Division. The raw feel of the vocals is everything it needs to be, not overshadowed by any other part, but taking control and taking you on a ride.

The Drones – To Think I Once Loved You: This song is probably something that is more of a reference for the darker moments in our EP. It’s another example of how the vocal performance drives the whole song, the huge impact of the lead vocal is only backed up by the rest of the band, it never gets lost.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre – Anemone: The honesty of this song is really something that we love, there’s not a huge amount of processing and you can feel how organic the performances are. The guitar part isn’t perfect, but it creates a dynamic exactly as it should.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre – Fingertips: We had to put two songs in from these guys, the honesty and the overall organic feeling is second to none. We love the way that the dynamics of this song are so heavily implicated by such small percussion parts, like the tambourine and the shaker. We try and use a bit of extra percussion here and there in our recordings, mostly through the desire to be like these guys.

Tame Impala – Apocalypse Dreams: This song has a way of keeping us coming back, even after years of having this album on repeat in my car. The overall production and ambition of the track is completely reflective of what we love about Tame Impala.

Melody’s Echo Chamber – I Follow You: We love the soft vocal and the way rest of the instruments feel as though they follow the vocal throughout this song. This song really is the perfect way to settle in, Melody gently walks you into each chorus with an incredible sense of harmony.

So there you have it! I had a great time listening to the songs The Empty Threats shared, such a diverse but cohesive collection of tunes. Let me know if you love any of these songs in the comments below!

Today’s post is a fun one, courtesy of the lovely Fiona, from Questions From A Teenager! If you haven’t checked out her blog already, I highly recommend you do. Not only is her blog one of my favourite’s here on WordPress, but Fiona is also one of my favourite people on the platform, part of my imaginary little girl gang on here, which made receiving an email with her top ten favourite songs at the moment all the more exciting!

Between The Bars – Elliott Smith: What a beautiful song??? I can’t believe I’ve never heard this song. So nostalgic, and sad and emotional to listen to. The guitar and Elliott’s voice match perfectly.

SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK – Joji: Love, love, love. This song has been in my peripheral’s for a while but I’ve never listened to it until getting this list from Fiona. I love it. There, I said it. So much so that I made it my song for the day in my 365 playlist for 2019, which you can check out HERE. It’s so ethereal, but Joji’s voice is so strong and powerful at the same time, and it’s a beautiful blend.

Summer Games – Drake: A great song. One of my favourite Drake songs, ever, hands down, which made me super happy to see this song on her list.

Sweater Weather – The Neighbourhood: Ooohhh preteen Priya is cheering at this pick. Such a great song, The Neighbourhood is so great, all the songs are fantastic, but you’d be hard to have missed this a few years ago when it was flooding the internet. I love it, Fiona loves it, hopefully you love it.

Hey Ya! – Outkast: I mean, can you blame her? Always was and always will be, a bop. This song is just memory central, all the time. I will openly judge you if you say you don’t like this song and can resist dancing or singing along.

Dark Red – Steve Lacy: Steve Lacy, one of the most underrated artists to ever exist. If you haven’t heard his solo stuff, you’ve surely heard his guitar playing in his band The Internet, and if you’ve yet to hear either, please pause and check some of his music out before continuing – just make sure you come back.

Nothing Lasts – Bedroom: Another song I’ve never heard, and of that, I am shameful. What a song. I really love the guitar and the bass in this song, which are some of the most prominent factors, but I feel like this song makes for the perfect summer montage song. Only after going into Bedroom’s Spotify page did I realise it’s the same musician who released TEST SPOT, another beautiful song Fiona introduced me to!

Walking On A Dream – Empire Of The Sun: Sometimes I forget that this song exists and then I listen to it and have to tell myself off for every forgetting it’s there. I can never find it in myself to skip this song, and for good reason too, I don’t think anyone doesn’t have a memory or a nostalgic feeling towards this song.

Oh! You Pretty Things – David Bowie: Okay, so I feel like a fraud because David Bowie is honestly someone I never, ever listen to. I feel like I should pay homage to him and have this huge love for him like nearly every other musician, but I just don’t. Mad respect, but never got around his music or anything. That said, I understand why this song is on Fiona’s list. It’s a great song, and maybe I can get around it after listening to it a bit more. We shall see.

Garden Shed – Tyler, The Creator: Again, another artist I don’t listen to much, but when I do listen to a Tyler, The Creator song, I never end up hating it. I have indeed listened to Garden Shed, and definitely understand why it’s made the cut. The guitar in this song is beautiful and it takes you on a great journey. So sonically pleasing to listen to.

Hello friends and welcome to another post!

These last few weeks have been absolutely fab and they’re about to get fab-ber. The incredible Mia has been in my city for a few weeks now and we’ve been having a great time. A sesh or two, saving each other from boring social outings and spending money on online stores in preparation for music festivals, it’s all been happening.

Through all the stuff that’s been going on, I managed to grab her top ten favourite songs at the moment, which she was more than happy to send to me, so here they are!

thank u, next – Ariana Grande: What a big, fat, yes. This song has been everything these past few weeks, and I’m loving how much support and appreciation it’s received since it’s release, and I’m very thankful to Mia for including this song as No. 1 on her list.

Someone New – Hozier: Anyone who doesn’t think Hozier is out here writing bops, hasn’t heard this song. I feel like I’m driving in the middle of the American middle east with the gal pals on a road trip across the country in a montage of a coming of age Netflix movie.

Deadcrush – alt-J: Now I listen to a little bit of alt-J. But not enough that I knew this song when I read it on Mia’s list that she texted me. I’d like to send Mia a huge flying kiss of thanks for introducing it to me. It’s super climactic while not doing all that much and I definitely appreciate it. Great for driving or even running if for some you reason you choose to run.

Big God – Florence + The Machine: If you didn’t know that Mia loves Florence + The Machine by now, now you know. I can’t say I wasn’t expecting a Florence + The Machines song, but I wasn’t sure which one I’d get. This is definitely a great one. It’s typical F+TM, takes a little while to build up arc, but once it does it’s truly cinematic.

Forever and Ever More – Nothing But Thieves: I’ve never listened to a song by Nothing But Thieves until I listened to this one, and I’m a bit peeved off, because this is incredible.

Don’t Touch My Hair – Solange Knowles: This. Song. Slaps. I will forever be an advocate for Solange Knowles and the masterpiece of an album that received not even a quarter of the recognition or admiration it deserved. Although after a particular conversation with Mia about her a hair and a backpacker’s opening remarks about her hair, the title of this song makes me giggle.

I Don’t Feel Like Dancing – Scissor Sisters: Holy moly this song violently throws me back to my childhood. This song is such a great song to have a guilty pleasure boogie to, if you’ve somehow never heard it, definitely get around it. If happiness was an audible sound, it would probably sound like this song.

There Goes Our Love Again – White Lies: Again, another song I have to admit I’ve never heard. Super grateful to Mia for introducing me to a few new incredible songs, this being one of them. Such a good summer song, definitely adding it to the road-trip playlist. I can understand why Mia included this one on her list.

Hold My Hand – Jess Glynne: Another song that is just audible happiness. Such a cute song. The chorus just forces you to kind of bop along, even sing a few lines. Jess Glynne is a super star.

Hello friends! Today’s post is another Courtesy Of. I’ve been really trying to get as many people as I can included in these posts, because as much as I love rambling about my own musical tastes and interests of the month/week/day/minute, it’s always good to get a fresh perspective, and discover some new music myself.

So today’s Courtesy Of, is brought to you, courtesy of, Chloe Luna. Chloe is one of my most favourite people here on WordPress, and if you have yet to check out her blog, you’re missing out on some of the most beautiful, heartfelt, honest writing I’ve read in a long time. Definitely have a read.

get well soon – Ariana Grande: I have to admit. I didn’t listen to this song the most from the album, it was one of the songs I kinda skimmed over. But Goddamn do I regret that. I can’t believe I neglected this beautiful song. It’s such a cute song, and I am ever so grateful towards Chloe for including it on her list and putting me in check.

Fools – Madison Beer: I love me some Madison Beer. Love it. We’re huge Madison fans around here, and we can have a chat if you’d like to say anything negative towards her or her music. I’m always down. This song though. This song is one of her best in my opinion. In my opinion, the entire As She Pleases record is some of Madison’s best work.

134340 – BTS: Okay. This is where we divide slightly. I’ve never found myself on the K-Pop train. It’s difficult for me. But that said, I can totally understand why Chloe included this on her list. It’s a straight bop. Like everything I kinda look for in a song. Definitely check this song out.

Butterflies – Kacey Musgraves: Again, I feel like I should have listened to at least one Kasey Musgraves song, but alas, I’ve not, until I had a listen to this song. I totally understand the vibe though. I wouldn’t go out of my way to listen to her music, but I can’t deny it’s good. Female Hunter Hayes in my mind.

Same Ol’ Mistakes – Rihanna: Rihanna does no wrong for me, and this song is no different. This song is so fluorescent, I love the entire vibe of this song, and while it’s not my favourite from the album, it’s definitely up there.

My Love Is Like A Star – Demi Lovato: No-one, on this earth, can say that Demi Lovato can’t sing. Because the girl can sing. Chloe and I have somewhat bonded over our love and adoration for Demi, especially when we were younger in high school. This song is so emotional, and her voice shines it this one.

Strings – Shawn Mendes: Ah we love some Handwritten Shawn Mendes. I remember listening to this song on repeat when this album came out. I’d love to see current Shawn sing this song again, I reckon he’d do it so well now. Super grateful, huge thanks to Chloe for including this song because I’ve re-added it to so many playlists.

The Palisades – Childish Gambino (& Christian Rich): Another artist Chloe and I have loved together, bonded over, spoken at lengths about, is Childish Gambino, so I can’t say I didn’t expect this artist on her list. She definitely chose a good song too.

MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix) – BTS: Okay, holy shit this remix. Always a huge fan of Steve Aoki. Like I mentioned before, never listen to BTS, but I can totally see why this song is an absolute tune.

Monster Among Men – 5SOS: Okay, so the only songs from this album I’ve heard have been the ones I’ve heard from my sisters room, and I have slight regrets now. This song is good. Not my favourite 5SOS song, that’s reserved for 2014 5SOS, but I can get around this.

Clearly – Grace VanderWaal: Okay. So I only listened to this after seeing it on one of Chloe’s monthly roundups of music, and ever since, I have been obsessed. I obviously knew who Grace was before hearing the song, I mean it was hard to escape her for a little while last year, even here in Australia, but I haven’t exactly kept tabs on her music since then. So I was super interested to here her cover of this song and I was incredibly surprised and impressed. The song is beautiful. Grace’s voice is amazing and it’s the perfect song to lift your spirits and empower you, all the while feeling like this really magical, ethereal piece of music that Grace fronts perfectly. Definitely give this one a listen, it’s one of my favourites on this list.

Hello hello! Today’s post is one that I’ve been waiting a little while to bring to you all, and that’s a Courtesy Of, brought to you by the final member of my family, my favourite human to ever exist mother. I managed to snag a quick moment with my mum when she joined me on the couch upstairs as I was scheduling up some posts, so opening up this fresh baby, I demanded her ten favourite songs and she was super duper excited to share some tunes with me.

“Wait, let me check my Spotify.” 

We love a Spotify savvy queen.

Crazy – Patsy Cline: I don’t care what anyone says, this song deserves to be up there with the classics. Whenever I hear it I get violent flashbacks to waking up late on a Saturday morning, before I started working and was out of the house by 8:30, and hearing this song playing in the backyard while mum hung out the washing. It was a tradition.

Nine Million Bicycles – Katie Melua: My mum is so passionate about Katie Melua, it’s not a joke. This is probably her favourite song, and I can’t count how many times I’ve been driving with her in the car and this song comes on, and I’m forced to stay absolutely silent for the entirety of the 3:17 minutes it goes on for. That said, it’s a beautiful.

Ave Maria – Aaron Neville: Can’t say this was ever a version of the song I was familiar with, but mum’s mad about it. Apparently she loved Aaron Neville.

Don’t Know Why – Norah Jones: This one is a shared favourite. We’ve both loved Norah Jones for years, and mum definitely influenced me on that. Norah is another voice who I grew up listening to, so I’m all about her and her songs. This is definitely a favourite.

I Dreamed A Dream – Susan Boyle: Susan Boyle. An icon.

Haven’t Met You Yet – Michael Buble: I dare you to listen to this song and not smile??? Mum’s always loved Michael Buble, she has his CD in the car that she got an op shop for 50 cents, and regardless of the fact that we hardly listen to CD’s in the car anymore, that CD never leaves.

Valerie – Amy Winehouse: This song is a song everyone knows, and for good reason. It’s a classic.

Songbird – Kenny G: We all love a good saxophone in my family and obviously Kenny G is the go-to for that.

Havana – Pentatonix: Mum loves Pentatonix. Everyone knows Mum loves Pentatonix. She has all their albums on Spotify, and while I used to hear Patsy Cline and Norah Jones on Saturday and Sunday mornings while I was younger, it’s transitioned to Pentatonix and I’m not mad about it. This song is one of the funkier ones in my opinion.

NO – Meghan Trainor: Regardless of what I think of Meghan Trainor, I can’t lie and say this song isn’t a bop. It’s such a tune musically, and you can’t help but bob your head while listening to it.

So that’s some of my mum’s favourite songs. It’s a good mix, so many songs from my childhood, and I love majority of these songs too, definitely not as much as she does though.

Courtesy Of: My Little Sister

Hello friends!

I’m not too sure if anyone’s gathered but I’ve been kind of sporadic in my posting recently, due to just generally being in a bit of a slump and feeling highly unmotivated to do anything. I’ve been desperately trying to think of new content to write about, and I found myself finding a ton of time in our upstairs sit-out area, staring blankly at my computer screen while my little sister blasted her music around the house.

On reflection, the answer was in front of me for several weeks, and it wasn’t until this week that I really took notice of the music was sister was listening to, how different it was to what I assumed she usually listened to, and how many throwbacks I was hearing from her room that reminded me of Year 8 Priya. So, of course, this post is going to be another Courtesy Of post, one of my favourites to share, brought to you by my little sister.

LA Devotee – Panic! At The Disco: I swear the first time I heard a P!ATD song coming from her room I nearly got whiplash from how quick I turned around. I’ve gone through several Panic! At The Disco phases where I’ve obsessed of the music for a couple of weeks, and nothing else. However, this song was never one that I loved as much as others. That hasn’t stopped her from blasting it at all hours of the day. I swear it’s a rite of passage to have a good old P!ATD binge once you start nearing the age of 14. Nonetheless, I was proud.

Youth – Shawn Mendes, Khalid: We’re no stranger to this duet here on You Should Hear, and in the weeks following it’s release I’ve included it in several posts and playlists, evidently it’s caught on.

Thnks Fr The Mmrs – Fall Out Boy: Ahh FOB. I’m currently loving my sister’s selection of songs, because it means she’s begun playing absolute classics, like this one, at ridiculously loud levels, for the entire family to enjoy.

Healing Hands – Conrad Sewell: You may not know of Conrad Sewell, but he’s an Australian singer with an incredible voice. He opened for Ed Sheeran the first time I saw him, but he took a little break. He’s recently started releasing some more music, and so far this has been the most popular one. He kinda takes it to church with this song. Give it a listen.

Death Of A Bachelor – Panic! At The Disco: This was the first P!ATD song my sister discovered, arguably one of the best, and I still love this song so much. I sing along with it, just as loud as she does and I think my family are getting sick of us singing it whenever we’re down in the kitchen.

Victorious – Panic! At The Disco: Okay, I would have appreciated some diversity but to be fair I asked for her top ten favourites at the moment, and I can obviously attest that she’s loving P!ATD.

Waves – Dean Lewis: Fun fact about my little sister, she’s very musical like me, and an amazing singer, and for her singing concert coming up, she’s singing this song. You might recall that I saw Dean Lewis live at The Howler sometime last year, and this song really kicked his career into gear, so I’m excited to see her perform it!

Runaway Baby – Bruno Mars: I don’t know if this song was sparked by seeing Bruno actually kill it in March when we went and saw him live, but she’s been jamming to this a bit, and getting highly embarrassed when I run into her room to dance to it.

Youngblood – 5SOS: She 100% has a crush on 5 Seconds of Summer. She tries to deny but she loves it. I reckon this song got her hooked. When it was released she was singing it at home, singing it in the car, singing it at school with her friends, she honestly got me onto the song before I could get onto it myself, so there was no way this song wouldn’t be on the list.

Dope On A Rope – The Growlers: This was one of those songs that made me go ‘dang, super proud of your music taste right now’ when I heard it coming from her room. I have an inkling of a feeling that there is a slight Emma Chamberlain influence in this one, but nonetheless, it’s got my sister, and in turn the rest of us in my house, listening to some incredible music. I’ve loved this song since it was released, and I have zero problems with her playing it as much as she does.

High Hopes – Panic! At The Disco: Quick confession, never heard this song until she sent me her list, but I understand why it is on the list. It’s a bop. I definitely added it to some of my other playlists after I heard it for the first time.

Courtesy Of: My Best Friend

Hello friends! Today’s post is an old favourite of mine, one I haven’t done for a while, a Courtesy Of! This time, we have one of my best friends, Kate, returning to share some of her top ten favourite songs at the moment!

Bennie and The Jets Revamp – Elton John, Pink, Logic: My dudes give this one a listen. Kate showed me and another friend when everyone had left her birthday party and we were cleaning up, and it was incredibly unexpected. Logic’s part is undoubtedly my favourite.

Getaway Car – Taylor Swift: I can’t say I’ve listened to a lot of Taylor’s reputation album, but I definitely don’t mind this song to be fair. It’s not bad at all, but I’m not sure how much I can get around her new songs, I’m still an aggressive Our Song fan.

Two Ghosts – Harry Styles: If you’ve read my review of the Harry Styles’s concert, then you know this is no surprise considering Kate’s in the same boat as me when it comes to this man.

I’m On Fire – Bruce Springsteen: Now when it comes to Bruce Springsteen, I have to admit, I never listened to his music at all. Never came across it in my life or heard too many of his songs on a regular basis. Until I became friends with Kate. Considering her dad is obsessed with Bruce, one of his songs are always on when I get in the car, and Kate can pick one of his songs within the first five seconds of it playing.

Barbie Tingz – Nicki Minaj: Ahhh, Barbie Tingz. A bop. Definitely my favourite of her recent two releases, so I’m glad Kate’s getting around it too!

Sleep On The Floor – The Lumineers: This song is so beautiful. Since getting Kate’s list I’ve been listening to this song everyday, I chuck it on in the car or on the way into university. Also, give the live version a listen as well.

Blitzrieg Bop – Ramones: This is a song that you either know of and can name straight away, or you’ve heard but have no idea what it’s called or who it’s by. I fall into the latter option, because I was so confused when I read the song name. Obviously I’m familiar with the Ramones, but the song threw me, until I listened to it and realised that I’ve literally been listening to this song my whole life, and it’s it nearly every early 90’s teen film.

Whole Wide World – Cage The Elephant: This was another song I’d never heard until I asked Kate for her list of songs. It fits her. I don’t know how but I can definitely see her loving this song – check out the Spotify Single version of this song, I really enjoyed it. Also, there’s another version of this song by Berhana, if you find it, give it a listen, it’s like the Priya version to the Kate original of this song. It’s the two of us in two versions of the same song. Insane.

If I Could Fly – One Direction: Kate sent me this list before we saw Harry Styles live, so she probably freaked out a little when he performed If I Could Fly. We all know how I feel about this song, so it’s no surprise my best friend feels the same.

Finesse (Remix) – Bruno Mars ft Cardi B: Oh my goodness this song is still a tune. Five months into the year and it still goes just as hard as when it was released in January. No doubt.

Hello friends! Today I’m here with another Courtesy Of, this time, brought to you by a young YouTuber from Denmark, living in Singapore, Amalie Star.

 

 

Amalie was kind enough to share her top ten favourite songs at the moment, so here they are!

 

Lyin Star – Jhene Aiko: Since hearing this song, it’s been stuck in my head. I’ve never listened to a lot of Jhene, but this is such a sick song, I’ve definitely added it to some of my playlists.

Where Did I Go – Jorja Smith: We all know how obsessed with Jorja Smith I am, so we understand how pumped I was to see this in Amalie’s list. This is one of her best songs in my personal opinion. The drum beat is the funkiest part, but nothing beats Jorja’s voice.

All The Time 2 – Wintertime: I’d never heard this song until Amalie sent me her list, and all I get is Gucci Gang vibes times ten. They definitely sound nothing alike beat wise, but the rapping, in my head, follows the same flow.

Two Shots – Goody Grace, gnash: Instant The Neighbourhood and G-Eazy vibes. I’ve only listened to a few songs from gnash, but this is probably gonna be one of my favourites from him.

Anymore – Ella Mai: Ella Mai is one of the most underrated female singers ever, so again, insanely excited to see her on Amalie’s list. If you’re looking for beautiful RnB singer with crazy vocals, then Ella Mai is all you need. Unpopular opinion, definitely prefer Ella to Jhene.

Run Me Dry – Bryson Tiller: I never jumped on the Bryson Tiller train, but I definitely understand why so many did. Of all the songs that I’ve heard from Tiller, this may just be my favourite. A huge thank you to Amalie to introducing this song to my life. It’s a bop.

So Sick – Ne-Yo: We all know this song. It’s still to this day, one of my all time favourite shower songs. Amalie’s only 15, and while that’s not ridiculously young, this song came out in 2006. She would have been like…4. It just shows how amazing this song is. It’s one of my all time favourite RnB songs to exist.

Because Of You – Ne-Yo: Another slap from Ne-Yo. I still remember caching this song on my old iPhone 3GS back when you couldn’t listen to music without wasting all the internet data your phone had. I honestly try to sing every part of this song, lead and back-up.

Bad Religion – Frank Ocean: Aside from Lost, this is my favourite Frank Ocean. channel ORANGE was the best Frank Ocean album released, never got around the most recent one, but this is one of the best songs on the record. 100% round of applause to Amalie for including it on her list.

No Scrubs – William Singe: One of Australia’s finest exports, William Singe. This cover is incredible, and I definitely understand Amalie including this one. Will has the perfect voice for old RnB songs, the stuff released in the late 90’s, early 2000’s, and this sums that up perfectly. And the falsetto. Honestly.
