A Very Late Spotify Wrapped 2020

Hello friends! Hope you’re all well and enjoying the holiday season, whatever it is you’re doing! I thought I’d pop back in and remind y’all I very much exist, by sharing my Spotify Wrapped for 2020. I’m well aware that Christmas as very literally come and gone and there’s mere days left of 2020, but I’m gonna squeeze this in here because I feel bad.

I’ve done a Spotify Wrapped post, ever since Spotify Wrapped existed. I’m all over it. I genuinely think about it year round.

Here’s my 2017 Wrapped, here’s my 2018 Spotify Wrapped and here’s my Spotify Wrapped: 2019. Just so you can catch up if you want to!

If you’ve been keeping up with my sporadic posting throughout 2020, you’ll know that music got me through a lot of lockdown, I discovered a bunch of music that I was keen to share when I could, and I listened to a whole lot of new artists with all the time I was finding myself with. Hence, I was super excited for my Spotify Wrapped this year.

This year there were a few additions and fun tidbits as there is every year. I was super intrigued with the stats on genres and new artists listened, and I like how they made it a lot more simple than last year. I’ll admit, last year seemed like…a lot, but the 2020 Wrapped gave you everything you needed and wanted to know, and I genuinely spent the entire day it came out, asking my friends about their Wrapped, comparing and sharing.

I did see the memes that held the general sentiment of ‘we don’t care about your Spotify Wrapped’, which seemed to be in excess this year, but I personally, love seeing everyone’s wrap-up. It was such a fun day to see everyone sharing their results, whether their top songs were plucked right from TikTok or rain music that they played year round to help them fall asleep. It’s always super wholesome for me.

So with all of that said, I’m obviously gonna be sharing the results of my 2020 Spotify Wrapped, not that I’m assuming you all were holding your breaths for it, but because in a super shitty year, it’s something that I’ve been looking forward to, something that made everyone a little excited to talk about and something that got people talking. I’m also warning those of you who have been here since the first Wrapped, prepare yourself for a complete lack of Jon Bellion that honestly threw me off as much as it might throw you off.

Here ya go.

Very much not surprising if I’m being honest.

This just makes me very happy to look at.

I think this year’s Spotify Wrapped may have been my favourite so far. I saw so many more people sharing their result and everyone really got into it. There is that little niggling thought in my head that Spotify Wrapped is great publicity for everyone to mindlessly promote the platform while it refuses to properly pay the artists who are streamed on, but in the words of Flex Mami, I am capitalism’s handmaiden and if I can enjoy something as much as I enjoy receiving my Spotify Wrapped…I’m gonna do it.

How did you year on Spotify pan out?

x

Festify – The Next Move

Hello friends.

I hope you’re all well.

Today’s post is an interesting one, pretty fun actually.

Recently I was looking at my stats, and saw that a lot of people were still reading the posts I did about Visualify, a website that gave you visual rundown of the music you listened to on Spotify, within much smaller time frames. It was a great alternative compared to waiting until the end of the year for your Spotify Wrapped. (Btw – you can check out mine HERE).

Unfortunately, the Visualify website has been down for a few months now. Upon seeing that quite a few of you were still clicking my Visualify link and reading the posts, I thought I’d share the alternative I’ve found, for the alternative I had.

Enter, Festify.

Festify basically has the same premise as Visualify, however, they’ve put a fun little twist on it. While it only shows your most listened to artists, rather than most listened to songs as well, they present it as your ultimate festival line-up, tailored to everyone’s listening habits, based on time frames of a month, six months and all time.

I think the best way to explain, is to show you how mine shaped up.

That’s how my festival line-ups look so far!! Wanna check out yours? Head to Festify HERE to check it out! Let me know in the comments how your line-up looks!

2018 Spotify Wrapped

Another year in Spotify time has come to an end, and with it came the much anticipated Wrapped.

I feel like while last year it was a bit of novelty, some people got on board, others were just interested to see how their year panned out, this year, it was huge. Artists were posting their stats, listeners were sharing their minutes of listening and Top Five artists on their Instagram story, and everyone was making a lot more use out of the marketing capabilities that the 2018 Spotify Wrapped provided.

I have to say, my Spotify Wrapped was of very little surprise to me. I did expect to have more listening time considering it feels like I’m constantly listening to music, but in terms of the artists who featured on my wrap up, I was not in the least bit surprised.

There was a slight change up in the presentation of our personal Spotify Wrapped, which I really enjoyed looking through. There were some new statistics that popped up, horoscope of artists you listened to the most(???), as well as the playlists I had been waiting for, the songs I listened to the most throughout the year, and songs that were recommended for me to listen to, based on my year’s listening habits.

Rather than go into a long explanation, I thought I’d share some screenshots from my Spotify Wrapped for 2018!

Not surprised. Ain’t Nobody, by Chaka Khan, is to date, one of my all time favourite songs, and I have incredible memories with my extended family to this song, and this release by Rufus has been on nearly all my playlists in my Spotify library, with no regrets.

Is anyone else surprised? Because God knows I’m not.

Not surprised at all. Considering my top artists feature in at least one post a month here on You Should Hear, I can’t say I didn’t expect them. Again this year, I probably underestimated how much I actually listen to Chris Brown and Bruno Mars, while I am well aware I listen to a lot of Jon Bellion, Amine and Kendrick.

The Heart Is A Muscle has no doubt been one of my most played songs, so again, not surprised, and same with the Finesse Remix, since it was released three days into the year. I mean I definitely dedicated an entire post to Bene, the singer of Tough Guy, and Pills and Automobiles and Nexus are two of my favourite power songs.

How did you Spotify Wrapped 2018 show up?
