Tracks For Motivation

Hello friends!

I hope you’re all well and thriving as much as you can in the current state of the world. Today’s post is a lil playlist and lil recommendation, a lil collection of songs I kept adding to this mental list in my head throughout my day.

I’ve been making fitness and physical performance goals a bigger focus of mine in 2021. Since December last year, up until about the end of July I hit a morning F45 session and it’s still a favourite of mine. I’m due back as soon as Lockdown 6.0 is done. Over the last month or so however, I’m back at the gym, lifting weights, going for longer sessions and doing my own solo thing.

Today’s shoulder session was blessed by the shuffle button if I do say so myself. It was like every song that came on was the perfect song I needed to get through the next two minutes that were creeping up on me. So I thought for today’s post I’d share some of the songs that really came through with that extra kick of motivation. Let’s go.

Edge Of Seventeen – Stevie Nicks
Let’s Begin – Jon Bellion, Roc Marciano, RZA, B.Keyz, Travis Mendes
No Hands – Waka Flocka Flame, Roscoe Dash, Wale
Tomboy – Princess Nokie
Deceptacon – Le Tigre
Dirty Diana – Michael Jackson
Random – G-Eazy
t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l – WILLOW, Travis Barker
Captain Hook – Megan Thee Stallion
DIET_ – Denzel Curry, Kenny Beats
Purple Hat – Sofi Tukker
Floor Seats – A$AP Ferg
Lapdance – N.E.R.D, Vita, Lee Harvey
Vossi Bop – Stormzy
Rushing Back – Vera Blue, Flume
Is Everybody Going Crazy – Nothing But Thieves
Red Nation – The Game, Lil Wayne
Hayloft – Mother Mother
Age of Machine – Greta Van Fleet
Barracuda – Heart

It’s amazing what a solid playlist can do for you. I can literally get thrown off by a song that doesn’t hit as hard as I need to, hence why I made a playlist specifically filled with songs that just really set the tone for me. You can follow my pump playlist and my inhaler playlist and use them for whatever it is you wanna do, lifting and throwing around weights or going for a run and setting a pace.

Get It Done At Home 2.0 // A Playlist

Hello everyone!

I hope you’re all well and getting through 2020 as best you can right now. I just wanted to drop in to share another playlist with you all!

The original post in this series which you can find HERE, was shared a little while ago, right at the beginning of the entire lockdown/isolation/COVID19 situation.

I think one of the biggest things that changed when literally the world, went into lockdowns of varying degrees, was the way we all worked out, got our exercise, moved our bodies and stayed fit.

A lot of people (me), relied on going to the gym to get a proper workout in, while other people (also me) were a part of sporting teams that practiced and played games every week, providing them with an easy and fun way to workout and stay fit. You had people who went to big group classes and other people who worked one-on-one with a personal trainer. All in all, the way we worked out and stayed healthy, changed drastically.

Like I mentioned, I was one of those people who relied heavily on going to the gym as much as I could, and playing team sports. As expected, considering Melbourne is back in lockdown for the second time, I’ve not been able to go to the gym or play any sport since March. So obviously we needed to make some changes.

Between my little sister, my dad and I, we were at the gym nearly every day of the week, so it only seemed fair that the three of us finally splurged on a bunch of basic gym equipment for our garage, and after an entire day of emptying out the space, cleaning out what we didn’t need anymore, selling a bunch of stuff on FaceBook Marketplace and donating a ton, we finally had a place for it all to go.

Honestly, some kettlebells, hand weights, resistance bands, plates and maybe a bar are all you need, and you could definitely get by on even less. The garage has quickly become my favourite place in the house, and after I come back from my daily walk with my sister, I’m straight in there for an hour or so. Plus with the huge amount of people sharing workout routines and home-based programs on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, I’m constantly changing and switching up what it is I actually do.

One of my favourite things about the space, is that I also get to bring one of the many BlueTooth speakers that are floating around my house in there with me, so not only do I have a place to get in my workouts, but I also have a place to finally blast my gym playlists once again,

It’s a win/win really.

Speaking of gym playlists – welcome to today’s post. I’ve changed up my playlist a little bit since moving to home workouts, I’ve found new music, I’ve taken some music out, and it’s the main thing that gets me excited to workout if I’m being 100% honest, so I thought I ought to share with you!!

Let me know what you think, and please feel free to share your favourite tunes to workout to!

Come Around – M.I.A, Timbaland
Blow the Whistle – Too $hort
Y.A.L.A – M.I.A
Bread – ROYBOY

Me, Myself & I – G-Eazy, Bebe Rexha
My Name Is – Eminem

Get It Done At Home // A Playlist

Hello friends!

Hope you’re all well and healthy. Today’s post is an opportunity for me to share some more music with you.

So far on the blog I’ve done a few workout playlists, from the original workout playlist, to the new updated one, and now we have a home workout playlist!!

I don’t know about you guys, but the gym withdrawals have taken a second to kick in considering the whole social distancing and isolation situation the world has found itself in, and when my gym finally shut it’s doors, I realised I was gonna have to find an alternative.

So home workouts it has been. It’s different. Clearly. The one thing I’ve remained faithfully to, is I’ve become a walker. Something I never considered I’d find myself doing. I’ve been pretty  consistent in making an hour long walk one of the first things I get done during the day and it’s actually kinda fun?? Some days my sister joins me and other days it’s just me, myself and I, but I make it a priority to get out of the house for an hour minimum for some fresh air. ‘Working out’, however is a bit of a different story.

Some days I just won’t and because I’m meant to be working out at home, just not doing anything, is a whole lot easier. That’s meant I’ve have to find some fun videos to work out along, I’ve ended up getting my sister to work out with me, and I’ve also learnt that the best way I get it done, is by bringing my bluetooth speaker out into the backyard with me, blasting some tunes and just getting it done.

What do I listen to?? Glad you asked! Check out the playlist – PLUS I’ve also linked a couple of my favourite fitness YouTuber’s who have a bunch of at home workouts to help you get through this weird social distancing time!

F E M A L E - Sampa the Great Got It - Jaden Remind Me - Eminem Blow - Beyonce Fire Sale (Church & AP Remix) - Dera Meelan, deadforest, Church & AP Forever & Ever More - Nothing But Thieves Machika - J Balvin, Jeon,

Whitney Simmons

Grace Beverly

Chloe Ting

Krissy Cela

Ajahzi Gardner

How have you been getting your workouts in during this period of social distancing? What are you listening to? Let me know in the comments!

Back To Headphones

Hey friends.

Hope you’re all well! Today’s post is a bit of a throwback, to one of my more informational posts, which gave you the run-down on a bunch of different headphones options, over-ears, on-ears,  in ears, noise cancelling, wireless and non-wireless, the whole shebang. You can read it HERE.

Today’s post, is actually a review. I finally bit the bullet and got a new pair of headphones, wireless, thank God, and I’m loving them. Before writing my last headphones post, and up until the end of August, I’ve been using my Beat headphones which just plug straight into my laptop for whenever I’m working or listening to music at home, Audio Technica headphones for whenever I’m mixing or in the studio, and the stock-standard Apple headphones for daily use like riding on the train or around university.

Since writing that post, there’ve been countless new contenders in the market, and today’s post is about my latest purchase.

To fully understand the reasoning behind finally buying a pair of wireless headphones, and why I chose these ones specifically, let me tell you a story.

My favourite pair of running pants for the gym, ripped recently, (R.I.P), meaning I no longer have them with me. They were my favourite purely down to the fact that, not only were they the comfiest pants I had, but they also had pockets. Pockets.

So whenever I was doing exercises that required bending, lifting, or the use of both of my hands, it was just super convenient to put my phone in my pocket and get on with it. However, with the loss of those particular pants, I’m now constantly having to either tuck my phone into my pants waistband, the strap of my sports bra, or keep my hoodie on and put it in the pocket of that. It’s a huge third-world problem, I understand, but it started driving me nuts.

So, I decided that the loss of those pants and my wireless headphone-less life needed to be fixed, and when a sale popped up at JB Hi-Fi at the end of August, I was there.

The pair I settled on, after much deliberation and advice from the super helpful staff, was the Plantronics BackBeat FIT 500. These bad boys set me back $150, but for something I considered an investment that I’d be holding off on getting, I knew what I was getting myself into from the moment I got in the car to go to the shops. I got the Teal one, accidentally, but to be fair, I only wear black to the gym so it’ll be a nice pop of colour, I guess. I also made sure that whatever I got, was sweat resistant and made specifically for gym and exercise use in mind considering I really only ever plan on using these headphones.

Copy of dazzle

So what do I think of the headphones?

So far, so good! They don’t budge, which is something I was skeptical about. They’ve lasted throughout the running portion of my workouts, as well as a range of full body exercises that nearly kill me, but they keep up. They don’t feel sweaty or wet at all, and I’m able to walk around the entirety of my gym while my phone is in my bag and keep a consistent, strong sound.

The On Ear Controls are super handy for changing over songs and checking how much charge I have left, which has been more than enough battery since I’ve had them. It takes me a while to burn through the 18-hour battery life.

The quality of the sound is pretty great. For on-ear headphones, they do the job perfectly, especially for a music snob like me who expects a lot from my headphones. My one issue is that you can kinda hear the music while they’re on my head, as my sister wasn’t afraid to tell me. I have my music kinda loud, and the fact that it can still be heard while the headphones are on my ears wasn’t great because I just feel obnoxious, but on the whole, that’s really the only thing I can fault with them and that’s me being picky!

I definitely sound like I’m affiliated with Plantronics, but I’m just being honest.

But that’s today’s post!! I don’t think I’ve ever done a review here on the blog – fingers crossed there will be more coming soon! What pair of headphones are you currently using? Is there one you wanna try? Let me know in the comments!!
